Ladle shroud, also known as long nozzle or protection nozzle, is used to connect the ladle and tundish. It ensures stable molten steel flow and prevents oxidation and splashing.
Preheating to 1000℃ is typically required before use to avoid cracks.
Roast-free ladle shrouds have been developed, offering excellent thermal shock resistance, good resistance to molten steel crush, and good resistance to slag erosion. Types include alumina carbon and silica, with alumina carbon being more widely used in recent years.
